What is Concierge Medicine?

Concierge medicine (also referred to as luxury medicine, retainer medicine or boutique medicine) is a form of medical practice that caters to a select population of individuals who insist on the highest caliber of medical service. Started in the mid-nineties, this type of practice returns the forgotten art of prioritizing patient comfort to contemporary times. It returns the control of healthcare to the patient and his or her physician. Concierge medicine is recognized by the American Medical Association, the American Society of Concierge Physicians and by various state medical boards in which you find these practices. Concierge medicine is not a health insurance entity, therefore much more freedom can be achieved on the physician and patient’s behalf than a traditional office practice.

What type of service is provided by Concierge Medicine?

  • Round the clock availability - The Physician will be available to the patient 24 hours a day 7 days a week, via cell phone, pager or email, depending on the nature of the call.

  • All visits will be house calls. This setting provides the patient the highest comfort zone (not having to get out in inclement weather, or when the patient is feeling bad and not having to sit in a waiting room).

    • Same Day Appointments - The patient will be able to correspond with the doctor/office for a same day visit or at a time that is convenient to the patient. In acute emergencies, the patient will be seen urgently on a priority basis.

    •
    • Unhurried Visits - Physician visits will be unhurried, allowing the doctor to spend quality time with each patient. Giving the patient comfort in knowing all their concerns have been addressed to satisfaction by the end of the visit.
    •
    • Specialist Liaison Services - With permission of the patient the physician will work with Specialist as it pertains to the patient's clinical needs. Our office will schedule your appointment, coordinate care, doctor to doctor consult before appointment and if the patient wishes, accompany them to the visit.
    •
    • Should an emergency room visit become necessary, the doctor will relay the patient's medical condition to the appropriate hospital parties, including ER staff and Specialist. If several Specialists are involved, our physician will coordinate care and keep the family abreast of the patient's latest developments, allowing them to understand what is happening and why.
    •
    • Increased level of follow up care - Following an ER visit, the patient's status will be monitored more closely than usual, whether admitted to the hospital or discharged to home. Upon hospitalization, the physician will be available for consultation with the patient/family. Conferences with doctors can be arranged if needed to optimize care. Upon discharge, the patient will be visited and reassessed for medical stability and appropriate titraition of any new medications. With the physician paying close attention to the patient, the post-discharge anxiety is effectively minimized for the patient/family.
    •
    • Prescription Services - We will or a local prescription delivery service. Medications will be delivered within hours of placing request.
    •
    • Traveling - Our services will be available to you while traveling: Doctor consults, consultation with other physicians, new prescriptions called in to any local pharmacy.
      •
